  • Scratching my head here…what did I miss?

Ok, so it’s been a few weeks since I’ve been on here.

Why is everyone moving to other blogging sites?

I saw something about “pay to play” for Xanga, but I’ve been a premium member for years.  What does that mean for me?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • I’m missing a few details but the bottom line is that Xanga is facing an imminent shutdown. They were trying to raise a certain sum of money by a certain date, but I think they missed their deadline.

  • Xanga needs to raise $60,000 by July 15th so they can relaunch the website. If $60,000 is not raised, then Xanga will shut down. But if it is relaunched, it will be switching to a paid subscription. Meaning, if you don’t pay, you can’t blog. And the yearly membership is $48 a year.

  • @Esturk - wow…thanks  @Shining_Garnet - does that include premium members as well?

  • @brokenbindings2 - I think premium members might get a credit. I know Lifetime members do get a credit, depending on how long they’ve had their lifetime membership. If you’ve had it for a year, you get $75 credit, $50 for two years, $25 for three years. If you’ve had it for longer than four years they see it you’ve been blogging for free since current premium is $25 a year, $100 for Lifetime would mean you paid for four years.

You can find more information about what’s going on at the Xanga Team’s blog.
